The GHG Management Institute is a nonprofit organization
focused on training and education. To manage climate change, we
need to measure our GHG emissions. Action starts with reliable information
about our emissions.
The Institute was founded by GHG
Experts Network and ClimateCHECK,
in partnership with World Resources Institute, Carbon Disclosure
Project and Govida eLearning. The Institute is working closely with
the World Resources Institute in developing a series of courses
related to the GHG Protocol. It is also working with other leading
organizations in developing courses and programs.
The Dean of the Institute is Michael Gillenwater, founder of the
GHG Experts Network, and co-author of the US EPA and Inter- Governmental
Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) GHG guidelines. The Managing Director
is Gao Pronove, former Coordinator of CC:Train, and co-founder and
former Executive Director of the Earth Council eLearning Centre
for Sustainable Development. Tom Baumann, co- founder and CEO of
ClimateCheck, is the Director of Professional Programs.
The Greenhouse Gas Management Institute is policy neutral. We do
not promote any specific protocol, standard or program. Our courses
cover all relevant protocols, standards, programs, and guidelines.
Our focus is on the professionalization of the field of GHG management
and accounting.
